Since when was love a competition?
Complicated, yes, but at best a game of chance for two
I was blind to the battlefield, blind to the rival of whom I'd thought illegal
Since when was love a competition?
My toils were for naught; the judge, the object of my affection, was in on this secret too
He so favored her, my rival
My friend
I cry out in agony, why had I not known?
Is there not something more?
They call out "yes" together
So much meaning in so little
Since when was love a competition?
Myself and opponent, she far ahead for having come so late
Did she come so late?
Fair play is a child's game; love is not for the faint of heart
Trust is the gun, friendship the bullet
Love the blood that I'll never stop bleeding
I was never one for winning
Trying yields not always success; walk off hand-in-hand, who are you anymore?
Love is a competition
I wish I'd been aware
This is really quite old, and it's definitely not my best, but this is the most emotionally packed piece I've ever written and I'd like to set it free.
If you can understand what happened to me through this garbled mess, then I have succeeded.
